Asus GL702ZC-GC098T is a Rog Strix laptop with a good configuration so that it could be considered a desktop replacement. It comes as an alternative to the Ryzen 7 version and because of that it’s a little cheaper. The processor is a desktop one mounted in a AM4 socket so that theoretically you can upgrade the processor.
Because of the very good components this laptop is suitable for gaming and demanding tasks.
This notebook PC has a good screen with a diagonal of 17.3 inches that has good viewing angles (because of the IPS panel that has 178 degree viewing angles) with 1080p resolution.
On the processing part it comes with a 6 core processor named AMD Ryzen 5 1600. In games it’s helped by the Radeon RX 580 graphics card that has 4GB of RAM.
The system has 8GB of RAM and for internal storage it uses SSD and HDD. The Solid State has a capacity of 256GB and the HDD has 1TB.
Software is more than good because of the OS that is Windows 10. It’s a secure and easy to use Operating System.
If you want to buy it for portability than you should know that portability is not that great with a weight of 3.2 kg and a battery that lasts up to 3 hours. The weight is kind of big because of the desktop components and because of the big 17.3 inch screen.
The display has 60Hz like any other laptop or TV. But (a big “but” here), it has FreeSync so that image is displaied as fast as possible.
Laptops such as this Asus GL702ZC-GC098T are very good for tasks that are very demanding. Compared with an Intel model it’s much cheaper and has almost the same performance or even better because of the more cores.
In my opinion, it’s very good that we have alternatives to laptops with Intel components. And, with the Zen architecture AMD marks a new beginning that’s very promising.
