Acer Swift 5 SF514-52T-531B, 14-inch ultrabook with Core i5-8250U

The Acer Swift 5 SF514-52T-531B is an ultrabook that came out this year, and the main highlights are the powerful processor and its portability. The i5-8250U processor offers a benchmark score of 7430 points because it is a quad core model, and battery lasts longer. It has a low weight of only 0.97 kilograms due due to the materials – magnesium-lithium. It costs more than the rest because it has a touch screen, this feature is obvious from its name (that T in the middle). These features as well as those listed below make the laptop a perfect tool for home or work.

Benefits

A 4-core processor is great for gaming and office work because is part of the Kaby Lake R series. Other laptops have even a dedicated GPU in case you want to try some special programs or 3D games. Of course, a powerful laptop need a consistent cooling system because some parts aren’t integrated and release a lot of heat. I do not think there are laptops without Windows 10 preinstalled.

The screen offers a decent imagine in comparison with classic screens because of the IPS panel. This type of panel offer very good viewing angles and a rich number of colors.. The touchscreen technology isn’t very new and can be found even on other laptops. A generous SSD is a better choice than a HDD, but there are many types (M.2 with NVMe support are the best). If you are interested in an alternative model to Zenbook or MacBook, then this model would be my recommendation.

Downsides

The only downside of this laptop is the price, but don’t forget, it can also be used as a tablet.

Conclusion

Acer Swift 5 SF514-52T-531B is offered by a highly-experienced brand and I can not reproach it anything. A maximum battery life of 8 hours can be reached only in some situations (lower screen brightness, turn of wireless technologies, don’t run videos etc). It looks great with the gold finish and there are even blue versions of this series.
